Front-end Repair Sacramento
You need to replace your shocks and/or struts if the original parts are worn out, damaged or leaking. Leaking is easy to see by looking for oil or leakage on the outside of the shock or strut, and so is physical damage such as a broken mount or badly dented housing. However, wear is often a more subjective call. Sometimes the original equipment shocks may not be worn, damaged or leaking, but may not be sufficient for the demands being put on them. If so upgrading the suspension with stronger, stiffer or a different type of special shock (or strut) may improve handling, trailer towing, hauling overloads or other special purposes.

Shocks and struts don't need replacing at specific mileage intervals, as do filters or spark plugs, but over time, they will wear out and eventually need replacement. How long will a set of original equipment shocks last? There's no set-rule, but original equipment shocks may start getting weak after only 30,000 or 40,000 miles. Struts will usually last upwards of 50,000 or 60,000 miles.
